MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Aug, 2024) Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has dubbed August 5, 2019, as the darkest day in Kashmir's history, marking the onset of India's "settler-colonial project" aimed at controlling Kashmir and its resources.
In a statement, Haq condemned India's revocation of Article 370 and 35-A as an "egregious constitutional fraud" that violates UN Security Council resolutions and international covenants. He accused India of intensifying its settler-colonial agenda, altering the region's demography, and issuing fake domicile certificates to non-state subjects.
Haq described the aftermath of August 5, 2019, as a "crippling siege" with a communication blockade, leaving Kashmiris imprisoned in their homes. He criticized the international community's silence over the humanitarian crisis and urged the UN to resolve the dispute peacefully through a free and impartial plebiscite.
The AJK PM paid tribute to Kashmiri martyrs and expressed optimism that their sacrifices would ultimately lead to freedom. .
