MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Sep, 2016 ) : The political leaders of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday hailed the bold and categoric stance of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Kashmir issue in his address to the ongoing 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister's address to the UNGA is realistic and true voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir seeking early grant of their birth right to self determination under the spirit of the UN resolutions.
The leaders said the Prime Minister has projected the Kashmir cause in bold courageous and unequivocal manner at the world forum. While welcoming the detailed address to the UN General Assembly, Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Front Altaf Hussain Wani said that the PM represented the true aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"They way the Prime Minister of Pakistan raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and human rights violations perpetuated by Indian army shows Pakistan's strong commitment to the Kashmir cause", Wani said while talking to APP.
He said that the Prime Minister not only reminded the international community of the UN resolutions on Kashmir but also about the indigenous nature of Kashnir freedom struggle. He said Nawaz Sharif rightly pointed out that peace cannot be achieved with out resolution of Kashmir dispute.
The demand for international investigation and immediate sending of a UN fact-finding mission by Prime Minister to probe into human rights violations in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir was also praiseworthy since the people of Pakistan and Kashmir dwelling this side of the LoC and rest of the world could not live with peace and without raising voice over the human rights abuses in occupied valley, Wani added.
The politician Raja Muzaffar Hussain said that we welcome his statement, each and every word of speech was carefully chosen and well crafted, to give a clear unambiguous message to the world. Talking to APP on telephone from Los Angeles California, Raja Muzaffar Hussain, the former senior vice chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and sitting Director South Asia Democracy Watch, a United States based think tank said that the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif kept the doors open for dialogues with India to resolve the Kashmir issue.
He said that India should understand the ground reality. Raja Muzaffar Husssain said the speech of Nawaz Sharif was very important in addressing the Kashmir issue peacefully. Peace and normalization between Pakistan and India cannot be achieved without a resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
This is an objective evaluation, not a partisan position, he added. He said a new generation of Kashmiris has risen spontaneously against India's illegal occupation demanding freedom from occupation. From 'Srinagar to Sopore', the men, women and children come out of their houses each day, to defying curfew and to demand freedom, he maintained.
