AJK President calls for early release of Yaseen Malik from Indian jail

MIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2019 ) : Apr 22 (APP):Expressing deep concern over the ill-treatment meted out to the imprisoned Kashmiri leader Muhammad Yaseen Malik, Azad Jammu and Kashmir President, Sardar Masood Khan has demanded his immediate release from the jail and permission to his family to meet him.

"Yaseen Malik's life is under serious threat as his hunger strike has entered 12th day on Monday," President Sardar Masood said in a statement on Monday and termed the cases framed against him by India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) as fake and fabricated.

The president said reports reaching here from Indian Occupied Kashmir were the cause of serious concerns for the government and people of Azad Kashmir.

Describing illegal arrest and detention of Yaseen Malik as an attempt to silence the voices of freedom, Khan said such repressive tactics cannot deter the Kashmiri people from pursuing their mission and prevent them from their struggle for securing their right to self-determination.

Saying that coercive measures, killings, detentions and suppression of innocent people would further lead to devastation in Indian Occupied Kashmir, the president said the state-sponsored policy of Indian rulers in the occupied territory could never force the people of Kashmir to surrender.

The president also demanded the safe return of women from AJK and Pakistan currently stranded in Occupied Kashmir and said those who went to IOK after marrying to IOK youths should either be given citizen rights or allowed to return to their parents by providing them travel document.

Sardar Masood Khan also condemned the ban imposed by India on Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front and Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir and said the ban on the two parties by the Indian government was another example of highhandedness and muscular approach to deal with the political issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
