All About “White Power Sign”

White Power sign is ‘OK’ sign and is performed by connecting the thumb and index finger into a circle, and holding the other fingers straight or relaxed away from the palm.

Commonly we use it to say someone that “I’m okay or everything is Okay. It was used by Greeks and Budha too. People make this sings while doing Yoga. In Japan it is symbol of money.

But since the start of 2017, it the sighn has been widely used as a symbol of power by those who believe in ‘white supremacy.’ Difference conspiracy theories have been built on this sign. The believers also called Neo-Nazis are also involved in anti-Semitism.

They believe powerful Jews lobby was using ‘black people’, Muslims and other religions to undermine the culture of white and to demolish their race.

The gesture was at the center of an online prank in meme culture related to alt-right and white supremacy originating from anonymous message board posts on the website 4chan in the beginning of 2017. The Boston Globe reported that users on 4chan (Politically Incorrect) board were instructed in February 2017 to "flood Twitter and other social media websites...claiming that the OK hand sign is a symbol of white supremacy,” as part of a campaign dubbed "Operation O-KKK". The supposed association of the gesture with white supremacy derives from the assertion that the three upheld fingers resemble a 'W' and the circle made with the thumb and forefinger resemble the head of a 'P', together standing for "white power".
