The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) on Wednesday has reported all main rivers flowing normal including Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Aug, 2018 ) :The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) on Wednesday has reported all main rivers flowing normal including Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej.

According to daily FFC report, actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicate that Tarbela Dam is maintaining its Maximum Conservation Level (MAL) of 1550 feet and Mangla reservoir at 66.feet below its MAL of 1242.00 feet which is 1176 feet.

Present combined live storage of three reservoirs which is 9.269 MAF (67.75 per cent of the total storage capacity of 13.681 MAF).

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Monsoon Low earlier over Northern Orissa (India) today lies over Northeastern Madhya Pradesh (India) besides Westerly Wave still persisting over Northern parts of Pakistan.

The report further claims that as Seasonal Low continues to prevail over Northwestern Balochistan.

Weak moist currents from Bay of Bengal are penetrating into upper parts of Pakistan upto 2000 feet. For the next 24 hours, mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of the country as predicted by FFD, Lahore, however, isolated thunderstorm or rain is expected over upper catchments of all the major Rivers besides over Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and D.G. Khan Divisions), Southeastern Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat and Bannu Divisions) during the same period. No significant change in existing weather system is expected during next 48 hours, it added.

"No significant rainfall event has been reported by FFD, Lahore during the past 24 hours, except for 35 mm in Lahore", the report said.
