Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has reported all main Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal where water situation at reservoirs is persisting to decline.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Sep, 2018 ) :Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has reported all main Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal where water situation at reservoirs is persisting to decline.

According to the daily FFC report on Friday, the actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela Dam is at 1505.32 feet, 44.68 feet below its maximum conservation level (MAL) and Mangla reservoir at 73.55 feet below its MAL of 1242 feet which is 1168.45 feet. The present combined live storage of three reservoirs is 6.385 million acre feet (MAF) (46.67 per cent of the total storage capacity of 13.681 MAF).

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) Lahore, the yesterday's shallow trough of Westerly Wave over Northeastern Afghanistan lies over Northern parts of Pakistan today.

Weak Seasonal Low still persists over Northern Balochistan.

For the next 24 hours, the FFD has predicted mainly dry weather to be expected over most parts of the country. However, isolated thunderstorm or rain may occur over the upper catchments of Rivers Indus and Jhelum including Rawalpindi and D.G. Khan Divisions of Punjab, Malakand, Hazara, Kohat, Peshawar and D.I Khan Divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Northeastern Balochistan during the same period. "Monsoon Season activity is likely to decrease during the next 48 hours", the report said.

Significant rainfall event reported by FFD, Lahore during the past 24 hours include Lasbela 35 mm, D.G. Khan 15 mm and Rajanpur 11 mm, the report added.
