All rivers run normal: FFC

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22th August, 2016) : The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said that all main rivers including Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi & Sutlej are flowing normal.

According to daily FFC report on Monday, the river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela & Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1541.47 feet and 1241.50 feet respectively, which are 8.53 feet & 0.50 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet. The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 13.417 MAF as compared to last year's 14.067 MAF. According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday's Monsoon Low over Southeastern Rajasthan (India) has moved slightly Westwards and today lies over Central parts of Rajasthan (India).

A fresh Monsoon Low has developed over Western Bengal & adjoining Jharkand (India). Yesterday's Shallow trough of Westerly Wave continues to prevail over Kashmir and adjoining area. Weak Seasonal Low lies over Northeastern Balochistan.

Moist current is penetrating into upper parts of the country upto 5000 feet.

As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, scattered thunderstorm/rain is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Sutlej and Ravi, besides, Southeastern Sindh during the next 24 hours.

Isolated thunderstorm/ rain may also occur over the upper catchments of Rivers Indus & Kabul including North & Northeastern Punjab i.e. Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala & Lahore Divisions, besides, Bahawalpur Division during the same period.

Scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab & Jhelum including Punjab and Southeastern Sindh, besides, isolated thunderstorm/rain over the upper catchments of Rivers Indus & Kabul and Northeastern Balochistan from 23rd - 24th August, 2016. Significant rainfall events reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours include; Malam Jabba = 38 mm, Mangla = 37 mm, Barkhan = 27 mm, Garhidopatta = 21 mm, Noorpur Thal = 20 mm, Risalpur = 14 mm, Chhor = 13 mm, Palote = 12 mm and Hattian Bala = 10 mm.
