Allama Iqbal Open University To Promote Awareness On Intellectual Property Rights

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will fulfill its academic responsibility of promoting awareness among the general public about the intellectual property rights, that is an essential part of strengthening a fair trade regime.
Islamabad, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2018) : Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will fulfill its academic responsibility of promoting awareness among the general public about the intellectual property rights, that is an essential part of strengthening a fair trade regime.
In this connection, a seminar on 'Trade related aspects of intellectual property rights' will be held here at the AIOU's main campus next week. This is part of the University's regular activities to address the socio-economic problems of the society, as per the vision of the Vice Chancellor Prof.
Dr. Shahid Siddiqui. According to an announcement here on Thursday, the event will be arranged in the connection with the World Intellectual Property Day, that is being celebrated on April 26. It is imperative to keep the young generation (students) aware about the role that intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright) play in encouraging innovation and creativity.
It is also a step towards promotion of innovation and creativity in the educational pursuits, the announcement added. This year's World Intellectual Property Day campaign celebrates the brilliance, ingenuity, curiosity and courage of the women who are driving change in our world and shaping our common future.
Minister of State for Federal education and Professional Training Muhammad Balighur Rehman said recently that that over the past years incredible growth had been seen in technology on a global scale.
"Investments in research and development (R&D) are central point of economic growth in this era. The minister maintained that there was a correlation between innovation, patent filing and development in society and added that the trend of the patent filing reflected economic growth of a country and social development in that society.
