Analysts urge UN to play role in stopping human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jan, 2019 ) :The analysts and experts on international relations have urged the United Nations to play its role in stopping human rights violations and abuses in Ocupied Kashmir.

While talking to a Radio Pakistan program Current Affairs, Dr. Huma Baqai an Associate Professor, International Relations at IBA Karachi said that UN is unable to resolve Kashmir dispute even in accordance with its own resolutions. She said India does not want the intervention of any third party to resolve Kashmir dispute.

Pakistan, being an important country of the region, is playing a leading role for bringing peace and stability in the region, she added.

Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan Professor, Department of Political Science, University of Peshawar in its comments said human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir have been increasing with every passing day but UN is not playing its productive role as it should have to play in this regard.

Dr. Amina Mehmood Professor, Department of politics & International Relations of International Islamic University said United Nations is unable to resolve Kashmir dispute and unfortunately international community is also silent over Indian human rights violations in Held Kashmir, which is quite alarming, she added.

Brigadier, retired, Mehmood Shah a Defense Analyst while giving his comments in the program said that visit of UNGA President to Pakistan is considered as vital one.

He said Ms. Maria Fernanda Espinosa has acknowledged that Pakistan has always played a useful role in bringing peace and stability in the whole region and particularly in Afghanistan.

Mehmood Shah said Pakistan has played critical role in promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan. All the regional and other stakeholders are expressing serious attitude towards the success of ongoing dialogue between Taliban and US officials, he added.

Another Defence Analyst Abdullah Gul said Pakistan always extends a cordial hand of friendship to the US whenever it needs support, the US always steps back when it no longer needs a Pakistani role in an issue.

U.S has failed to value Pakistan's interests and has kept on making demands. "Do more" has been the message of the US leadership in recent years, without understanding Pakistan's capacity to comply, or its own interests, he concluded.
