Anti-Corruption Department Rawalpindi receives 1200 complaints in ten months; Director ACR

Anti-Corruption Department, Rawalpindi region received over 1200 complaints in ten months after a successful awareness campaign launched in collaboration with Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO).

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Dec, 2018 ) :Anti-Corruption Department, Rawalpindi region received over 1200 complaints in ten months after a successful awareness campaign launched in collaboration with Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO).

Addressing the participants of a seminar organized here on Monday by SSDO and Anti-Corruption Department, Rawalpindi, Regional Director of Anti-Corruption Arif Rahim said that the anti-corruption department had launched an awareness campaign in collaboration with SSDO and during last ten months, the department received over 1200 complaints.

The department examined the complaints and nearly 619 were considered for further inquiry. Out of which 214 were against revenue department, over 100 against local government and 37 against police.

He informed that the department was taking strict action in accordance with the law against the corrupt officials of different departments and several trap raids were conducted to net the accused allegedly involved in taking bribes.

He said that an Anti-Corruption week is being celebrated in the region to create awareness about the menace.

Syed Kausar Abbas, SSDO Director said that the anti-corruption department is doing its best to reduce corruption from public offices. SSDO is supporting the campaign to create awareness among the citizens. The awareness campaign includes community activities, seminars, walks and other activities in Rawalpindi.

He said that the issue of corruption can be addressed by using Right to Information laws in public offices which would help ensure transparency and openness in the public offices.

He urged the citizens to come forward and play active role in addressing the issues of corruption.

Saima Younus, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi on the occasion said that the Punjab government believes on transparency and supports the anti-corruption campaign and on the directive of the Chief Minister Punjab, earnest efforts are being made to eliminate corruption.
