Apex Committee Decides To Promote Arms Industry In Darra Adamkhel: Shoukat Yousafzai

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Broadcast Shaukat Yousafzai Wednesday said the apex committee has decided to regularize and facilitate arms industry in areas of erstwhile FATA.
The apex committee meeting held at Governor House was chaired by Governor KP, Shah Farman and among others was attended by Cief Minister, Mahmud Khan, Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Mazhar Shaheen Mehmood, IGFC, Major General Abid Latif, Commandant Frontier Constabulary, Moazzam Jah Ansari, Chief Secretary, Kamran Naveed Baloch, IGP, Salahuddin Mehsud ACS FATA secretariat, Sikandar Qayum and Secretary Home.
He told a press conference here that the apex committee has decided to allocate 800 to 1000 acre land for small, medium and large industry in Michni area in Mohmand district, so that the owners of arms factories could shift and set up their industry there.
He said if the owners wanted to continue their industry in Dara Adamkhel, the government would facilitate them and help the revival of closed industry, adding that the government wanted to enable the arms industry to produce export quality arms and ammunition.
The apex committee was informed that provincial government was ready to conduct general elections on general seats for KP assembly in erstwhile tribal areas which is likely to be held in the month of April or May next year.
The apex committee further decided that budget for tribal districts would be presented in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in next financial year where the public representatives from erstwhile FATA would be part of the assembly.
He said public representatives from tribal districts would be part of budget preparation session and decision making so that the problems of tribal people could be resolved.
To a question, Shaukat Yousafzai said that the Federal government has pledged Rs1000 billion during next 10 ten year for development of tribal districts. To another question he said that merger of erstwhile FATA would not affect NFC award.
He further told that the apex committee has decided to fulfill the deficiency of teachers and doctors in tribal districts and ensures their presences on duty, adding that several doctors and teachers already working in tribal districts are reportedly not performing their duty but taking salaries.
The information minister said that Rs. One billion package would be given to tribal youth besides constructing one sports ground each in 25 tehsils of merged tribal districts. Similarly 30,000 cops would be inducted intribal police force.
