Archeology Deptt Seals 11 Shops To Start Renovation Of Historic Masjid Mohabat Khan

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jan, 2019 ) :Archeology department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with collaboration of District administration of Peshawar and Police Friday sealed 11 shops in the vicinity of historic Masjid Mohabat Khan.

According to a press release issued here, the operation was led by Assistant Commissioner Peshawar, Sara Rehman and Nawaz-ud-Din of Archeology department.

The shops have been sealed as part of restoration of historic Masjid Mohabat Khan, added the press release.

The shopkeepers were served with notices about vacation around a year earlier and were also informed about the operation a day earlier.

These shops will be now handed over to Auqaf departments and shopkeepers have been asked to contact Auqaf department in case some of their belongings are left in the sealed shops.

According to Nawaz-ud-Din of Archeology Department, the KP government had reserved an amount of Rs. 800 million for renovation of Masjid Mohabat Khan and after taking possession of the shops, work would start over the project.

He also disclosed that around 30 more shops will be vacated after obtaining suggestions from technical committee constituted in this regard.
