Arrangements, Security Finalized For PK-97, 99 By-polls: DPO

District Police Officer (DPO) Zahoor Babar Afridi Wednesday finalized arrangements and security measures for by-poll scheduled for October 14, in two constituencies PK-97 and PK-99 DI Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
DIKHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Oct, 2018 ) :District Police Officer (DPO) Zahoor Babar Afridi Wednesday finalized arrangements and security measures for by-poll scheduled for October 14, in two Constituencies PK-97 and PK-99 DI Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a consultative meeting with Police, Pak Army, Election Commission, Rescue-1122 and education department, the DPO said that the city has been divided into five sectors including City Circle, Saddar, Kulachi, Daraban and Parowa Circles where polling would be held from 8am to 5 pm.
The Deputy Commissioner Noman Afzal Afridi said that section 144 has been imposed in the district which would remain intact till the election process, adding that pillion riding, display of arms, aerial firing, use of tinted glasses in vehicles and use of loudspeaker would be banned under the section.
The election candidates have been advised to take care of their security while police and district administration would also provide them cover. Similarly, the workers of the contesting candidates have been asked not to install their camps in surrounding of 400 meter radius of the polling stations.
Aghaz Ikramullah Gandpur, son of late Ikram Khan Gandapur would contest by-poll on PTI ticket from PK-99 while Fatehullah Khan Miankhel would be his rival who would contest the poll as an independent candidate.
The Election Commission has set up 45 male, 40 female and 65 joint polling stations in the constituency, with a total 441 polling booths. The police have declared 78 polling booths highly sensitive, 66 sensitive and six normal. The total registered voters in PK-99 are 157641 including 91505 males and 66136 females.
In PK-97 the total registered voters are 154,483 including 83,883 males and 70,600 females.
A total 137 polling stations have been set up in the constituency with 232 male polling booths and 195 females polling booths.
The police have declared 12 polling booths highly sensitive, 99 sensitive and 26 normal. As many as 2000 police personnel would perform security duty during the polling process.
Faisal Amin Gandapur of PTI and PPP parliamentarian's Farhan Afzal Dhap would be rival candidates from PK-97. JUI-F candidate Obaid ur Rehman who has already withdrawn his nomination papers in favour of PPP candidate would be supported by JUI-F vote bank.
