Asian Development Bank To Give $300m For Civic Facilities In Four Punjab Cities: Abdul Aleem Khan

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide US$300 million for up-gradation of infrastructure and civic facilities in four Punjab cities-Sargodha, Muzafargarh, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur, while provincial government would also add $50 million to the same programmee.
This was stated by Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan here Tuesday.
He said it was the 2nd phase of Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme (PICIIP). In the first phase, civic facilities in Sialkot and Sahiwal cities had been upgraded.
The senior minister also directed Local Government and Community Development Department to ensure transparent use of funds and observe all rules and regulations in this regard.
He said the PTI government would ensure that each and every penny was utilised judiciously.
He said that sustainable steps should be taken for upgradation of civic facilities and it would be ensured that no funds or time is wasted.
Abdul Aleem Khan said that international donor agencies have confidence in the incumbent leadership of Pakistan because Prime Minister Imran Khan had a clear vision of country's development.
It is to mentione that PCIIP included provision of water supply, sewerage system, solid waste management and other civic amenities on which work would be undertaken in the above mentioned four cities.
Meanwhile, a workshop was also held in this regard and Urban Development Specialist Gordon Smith, Project Manager Cities Development Initiative (Asia) Brian Capati, Project Director Romain Vivant, Team Leader Urban Resilience Specialist Asim Manji, Deputy Team Leader, urban Development Specialist Nadeem Khurseed, Project Coordinator Mujeeb ur Rehman Khan and Capacity Development Specialist Dina Khan addressed the workshop and highlighted the aims and objectives of this programme in four cities of Punjab.
Program Director Qaiser Saleem lauded the efforts of ADB for improvement of infrastructure.
He said that steps have already been started in Sargodha and other cities of South Punjab under PICIIP, while workshops would also arranged on November 15-16 at Bahawalpur.
