Atta-ur-Rahman Research Institute In Malaysia Organises Major Moot

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Oct, 2016 ) : Atta-ur-Rahman Research Institute of Natural Product Discovery, setup by the leading Malaysian university- Universiti Teknologi Mara, is organising an international conference on `Herbal Drug Development' in Malaysia on October 7.
A senior official of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, said here on Thursday that Universiti Teknologi Mara has setup this research institute in honour of Pakistan's leading scientist Prof.
Atta-ur-Rahman, near Kuala Lumpur. He said the international conference is being organised under the auspices of the Network of academies of Science of Islamic Countries (NASIC).
Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, who is the president of NASIC covering 20 major countries of the Islamic World, will deliver the keynote address on the 7th October, the ICCBS official said.
`It is a matter of great pride for Pakistan that Malaysia decided to set up a world class research institute in the name of Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman who had obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Cambridge University (1968) and has 1,052 publications in several fields of organic chemistry including 210 books largely published in USA and Europe.
Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman was the Federal Minister of Science & Technology and he had also headed the Higher education Commission of Pakistan as Chairman. APP/rak/shb/rn
