Secretary Population and welfare department government of Balochistan Imran Gichki on Monday said that the balance between population and resources was important for a durable development of the country.

He expressed these views while addressing a program organized by Maternal Child Survival Program (MCSP) and Rehnuma Welfare Organization in connection to World Population Day. On this occasion MCSP's Jhpiego Program Manager, Dr. Abdul Warech Baloch, PPHI's Dr.Ameer Bakhsh, WHO's Dr.Asfand yar Sherani, Dr Ambreen Mengal, Dr. Tariq Jaffar also addressed the participants.
He said that to control the increasing rate of population government is taking concrete measures and also educating masses in this regard.
He said rapidly increasing population was swallowing the resources and we should consciously follow the population welfare programme to overcome education, health and employment issues.
He stressed that having a small family went a long way, guaranteeing prosperity for the family unit and the nation.
Secretary Imran Gichki said that due to constant childbirth, the mother and child's health remains poor, for this reason proper interval and family planning is essential.
He said that one of the key challenges faced by the population welfare department, is its lack of coordination with other departments playing vital role in population control.
He said that Family Welfare workers are being trained in the Regional Training Institutes and after completing the training, these female workers are deployed in various districts of the province, with an aim to educate and aware women in maternity phase for the upcoming health problems and menaces.
Balochistan cannot emerge as a healthy province unless we pay complete attention towards mothers and children's health. We have to keep the environment in our homes clean in order to protect our future generation from the crippling diseases, He said.
He further said that provincial government is utilizing all available resources to protect the health of mothers and children in the Balochistan.
