Big Cities Need 50 Years Planning: Aleem Khan

Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has said all big cities of Punjab need more 50 years planning so that a comprehensive strategy could be adopted to save the national exchequer.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Oct, 2018 ) :Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has said all big cities of Punjab need more 50 years planning so that a comprehensive strategy could be adopted to save the national exchequer.
He said this while talking to a three-member delegation of the World Bank headed by Anna Wallenstein which called on him here Thursday. The delegation included Mika Petteri Torhonen and Catalina Marulanda.
Aleem Khan said that it was unfortunate that most projects of the last government were unnecessary which could not be carried out on permanent basis. He added that projects like Metro, Orange Line Train required continuous subsidy which were not affordable on long term basis.
He said that for the revamping of the existing system, proper monitoring was required with check and balance for which services of the World Bank were commendable.
The senior minister said that the new local bodies system would be more efficient to deliver on local level.
Aleem Khan said that the present government had initiated the 100-day plan for health, education, local government and other important sectors, for which steps were being taken to bring about a visible change in these sectors.
The delegation discussed with senior minister the avenues of working in 16 districts and starting new projects in the local government department.
