BISP holds training workshop

SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th August, 2016) : A Capacity Bulding Specialist, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Khalid Saeed has introduced Computer Based Personal Interviewing (CAPI) for collection of data called National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER). The NSER is being introduced in a transparent manner with the help of National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) that would also be used for health related issues, food, utilities, micro-financing, access to justice, education and employment. Speaking in a training of Social Mobilizers, organized by BISP Sukkur division at circuit House on Saturday, he said that door-to-door surveys using CAPI are being conducted through NADRA in 16 districts including Sukkur under first phase of the project He said that NSER updated version would contribute to policy making and better-targeted programmes.

The Divisional Director BIS Sukkur division, Zulfqar Abro said that they want to ensure complete transparency in disbursement of cash payments among the beneficiaries that is why a multi-layered mechanism is being introduced for inclusion and exclusion of the beneficiaries. The new poverty survey would be transparent and BISP would put in hard efforts to make it the best in the world, he added. Abro said selection of beneficiaries is done on the score based mechanism but in the past some political elements used to leak out the questionnaire to the people due to which they came with "ready-made" answers and got them registered under this programme. Office bearers of the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz Sukkur chapter, representatives of the Aurat Foundation, Lawyers and members of the civil society were also present on the occasion.
