BoP Scam Accused Convicted

An accountability court on Wednesday awarded two and a half years imprisonment to Haris Afzal, an accused of Bank of Punjab (BoP) scam
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Oct, 2017 ) :An accountability court on Wednesday awarded two and a half years imprisonment to Haris Afzal, an accused of Bank of Punjab (BoP) scam, for illegally selling property situated in Dubai, already surrendered to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the scam.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 546 million on the convict.
Accountability Court-IV Judge Khaqan Babar conducted the trial proceedings and after hearing arguments and recording evidence, convicted the accused on proving the charges against him.
The NAB Lahore had arrested Haris Afzal on allegations of fraud, forgery and illegal sale of property situated in Dubai already surrendered to NAB in Sheikh Afzal's case (BoP Scam). The property, situated in Dubai's affluent Emirates Hill neighborhood, had been frozen along with other assets belonging to the accused after they failed to return a loan obtained from the BoP.
