British Academicians Visit GCU

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 02nd Nov, 2016 ) : The academicians from 20 universities of the United Kingdom visited the Government College University Lahore to explore the prospects of academic and research collaborations, here on Wednesday.
The delegates also met with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah and discussed the various academic and research programmes offered by the university. The visit was arranged by the Punjab government in collaboration with the British Council to strengthen ties between educational institutions of Pakistan and UK.
Punjab Minister for school education Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan, British Council Director Kevin McLaven, University of Health Sciences VC Maj. Gen. (R) Prof. Muhammad Aslam, UET Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, University of Education VC Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam and heads of different other top educational institutions of Punjab were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Hassan Amir Shah said British Council had played a key role in bringing the universities and academicians of both universities closer.
He stressed on initiating different student and faculty exchange programmes between the British and Pakistan universities in the areas of natural as well as social sciences.
The Vice Chancellor briefed the delegates about the rich history and traditions of GCU which had completed its 152 years academic excellence. Representatives of Cranfield University, University of Essex, University of Bradford, University of Warwick, University of Glasgow, Sheffield Hallam University, The University of Law-De Broc, University of Exeter, University of Southampton, University of Lincoln, University of York, Middlesex University London, University of Dundee, Scotland, University of Strathclyde, University of Manchester and University of Kent are part of the delegation.
