British Council delegation visits SU

The delegation of British Council led by Manager Overseas Security Katey Hewitson Tuesday visited Institute of Art and Design, University of Sindh, Jamshoro.

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Aug, 2017 ) : The delegation of British Council led by Manager Overseas Security Katey Hewitson Tuesday visited Institute of Art and Design, University of Sindh, Jamshoro.

Prior to the campus visit, the university spokesman informed that the delegation held meeting with the Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Chandio at VC office. During the meeting, Katey Hewitson informed Dr.

Chandio that British Council intended to organize photography exhibition at the varsity premises in collaboration with Institute of Art and Design, University of Sindh in September instant; for which preliminary planning and preparation were in progress.

She informed that the proposed exhibition would showcase photographic artwork of renowned British and Pakistani artists, covering spectacular landscapes, spanning various parts of Pakistan. Besides, the event in its scope would also project social issues and highlight the importance of education in today's fast moving world.

She also informed that on the occasion of Independence Day of Pakistan, Britain-Pakistan joint venture of photography exhibition was launched in almost all mega cities of Pakistan; which, she informed were a crowd-puller and won unprecedented accolades.

She said that the exhibitions addressed a wide range of themes with special focus on accentuation and projecting of Pakistan's history, heritage, culture, architecture, language, social issues, tourist attractions and education.

He witson said the exhibition displayed artworks of both Pakistan as well as British maestros. Katey stated that the British Council intended to replicate this experience at SU also, for which consent and cooperation of University of Sindh was required.

The Registrar honoring the request of the visiting delegation directed Incharge Director Naimatullah Khilji to collaborate with the British Council to materialize the proposal. The event is likely to take place in the last week of September at Institute of Art and Design, in which the award-wining photographers of Independence Day of Pakistan celebration exhibitions along with other participating amateur photographers would be invited on a special note to be in attendance.

The delegation later visited Senate Hall of the Vice Chancellor's Secretariat, Foreign Faculty Guest House, Institute of Art and Design premises and other related locations with a view to scan security arrangements.
