ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2021 ) :British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday in his address to the 76th United Nations General Assembly session called the entire world community to follow the example of Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan's Ten Billion Tree Tsunami plantation.
Ministry of Climate Change on its Twitter handle shared a short video clip of the British Prime Ministers' speech where he extended his appreciation to Prime Minister Imran Khan's massive afforestation initiative launched across the country.
Prime Minister Johnson, "We are going to plant millions of trees in the UK but I was blown away. I would like to invite everybody to follow example of Imran Khan of Pakistan who has pledged to plant ten billion trees in Pakistan alone. He is going so..".
He added that it was important that the developed world recognize its obligation to help less developed countries down this path in these technologies (to cope with climate change).
As per the text of his speech at the UNGA session available at the UN's official website, the British Prime Minister said, "And we also recognise that this is not just about using technical fixes for CO2: we need to restore the natural balance, we need to halt and reverse the loss of trees and biodiversity by 2030, and that is why we in the UK are committed to beautifying the landscape, strengthening our protection against flooding, by planting millions more trees.""We started this industrial revolution in Britain: we were the first to send the great puffs of acrid smoke to the heavens on a scale to derange the natural order," the British Prime Minister underscored in his speech.
