BZU Professor, Earlier Abducted By Students, Suspended Over Harassment Allegations

An inquiry committee was formed after complaints of sexual harassment were received against him.
Multan (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th December, 2018) The assistant professor of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Dr Wasif Awan, who was earlier abducted by the students, has been suspended for allegedly harassing the female students.
A female student of the university recorded her statement before the inquiry committee against Dr Wasif following which he was suspended on Sunday.
An inquiry committee was formed after complaints of sexual harassment were received against him.
Dr Wasif was accused of harassing the student by sending her indecent videos.
Earlier, the BZU professor was allegedly abducted on Wednesday by students who was recovered after five hours.
The sources at the BZU said that Dr Wasif Nauman, an assistant professor at Forestry and Range Management department, was going to pick his daughter from Multan Public school this noon when students in three cars allegedly stopped his vehicle.
They dragged him out of the vehicle and took him in one of the cars.
People informed the police emergency 15 about the incident.
Meanwhile, the police stopped a car at Nagana Chowk check post and took masked students with guns into custody who helped the police in tracing where about of the kidnapped professor and their accomplices, the sources said.
After five hours, the police recovered Dr Waif, the source stated.
However, it later turned out that the professor had tried harassing the female students.
