Canadian High Commissioner Meets Punjab Inspector General Of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan on Friday said that Punjab police was effectively using information technology based modern policing to protect lives and properties of people, besides eliminating anti-social elements
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Sep, 2019 ) :Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan on Friday said that Punjab police was effectively using information technology based modern policing to protect lives and properties of people, besides eliminating anti-social elements.
In this regard,for monitoring and surveillance of different districts like Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Mianwali and other districts of the province, a modern integrated smart and surveillance system has been launched,the IGP said.
He said that to enhance efficiency of Police force, school of investigation has been established and training syllabus was also upgraded along with other projects, whereas information based operations were also underway to decimate network of drug peddlers.
He expressed these views during a meeting with three-member delegation of Canadian High Commission at Central Police Office.
Canadian delegation included Wendy Glimour, Joanne Minns and Parham Faraid.
Issues of mutual interest like efforts of Punjab police in war against terrorism were also discussed.
A consensus was reached to enhance information sharing in order to make operations against drug dealers and their network more effective.
The IGP apprised the delegation about safe city and other modern projects and said that cameras of safe city have played a significant role in tracing different cases of terrorism.
The Canadian delegation appreciated the timely action of Punjab Police against terrorists, miscreants and anti-social elements.On the occasion,Canadian High Commissioner Ms Wendy Gilmour said that launching of monitoring and surveillance system in small cities was an important step.
During the meeting, mutual information sharing and cooperation between Punjab Police and Canadian High commission was agreed upon, whereas the IGP and Canadian High commissioner exchanged souvenirs.
