Can’t Hang Someone, Wait For JIT To Complete Probe In Sahiwal Incident: CM Buzdar

An action on the incident will be taken after the JIT will submit its report tomorrow evening, he said.
Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st January, 2019) Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that action against Sahiwal incident will be taken after the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) submits its reports tomorrow at 5pm.
Talking to media on Monday, he said he was in Mianwali when he received the report of the Sahiwal encounter. The chief minister said that he reached Sahiwal just as he received the information of the incident.
He said that a high level JIT has been formed to probe the incident. The JIT has been given 72 hours to complete investigation.
An action on the incident will be taken after the JIT will submit its report tomorrow evening, he said.
He said that another meeting will be held after receiving the JIT report.
“I cannot decide to hang someone. Wait for the inquiry report then we’ll decide about what to do,” the chief minister said.
He asked the people to be patient. “You will see what we did.”
CM Buzdar further said that the government has announced to give Rs 20 million to the family in compensation and has also taken responsibility of the survived children.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday took notice of the killing of four people in the alleged police action in Sahiwal.
The CM sought a report from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and directed that the incident may be investigated from all aspects.
Punjab IGP Amjad Javed Saleemi has formed JIT over the incident.
According to the details, DIG Zulfiqar Hameed would be the head of JIT while members of intelligence agencies would be members of the team.
The JIT would present the report after completing its investigation.
