
Cattle Upkeep Programme In Progress For Quality Meat

MULTAN,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Augst,2016) -Livestock department has started registration for calf health programme with the objective to promote quality meat production in the province. Under the 'Calf Fattening Programme',farmers would be offered incentives as part of encouragement,said District Officer Livestock,Sibtain Bhatti while talking to APP here. Cattleheads with ages ranging from 12 months to 16 months were being registered.
About incentive criteria,he said animals which would gain weight over 700 gram per day for a period of three months after registration would be tagged as successful and their owners would be rewarded with Rs 4000.
The department has set a target to register 250 calves for the health programme.
Registration of animals for the second upcoming phase of this programme is in progress across the province,he informed. The DO Livestock informed that Livestock teams were also continuously visiting farmers and suggesting proper nutrition for animals.
To a query, he stated that one kilogram "wanda" (cattle food) having proper ingredients was sufficient for gaining the recommended weight.
