CDA, ICT Admin Retrieve 250 Kanals From Illegal Occupants

Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration Monday jointly carried out a gigantic operation against the illegal encroachments and constructions on the right of way of Grand Trunk (GT) road and retrieved 250 kanals of state land from the illegal occupants.
During the first day of the operation, illegal constructions from 1.5 kilometers on the right of way of GT road, from Tarnol Phatak towards Peshawar were completely demolished, a press release said.
150 illegal shops, 20 rooms, 7 Chapper hotel, 30 sheds, 5 kiosks, 10 fruit stalls, one wood tall, 10 bhussa talls, 8 chicken shops, 10 Kabarkhanas, 6 hotels, 2 service stations, 3 containers and 10 boundary walls out of which 2 constructed on more than 10 kanals state land were completely demolished.
The operations was participated by Director Enforcement of CDA Faheem Badshah, ICT Assistant Commissioner Saad Bin Asad and relevant officers and staffers of National Highway Authority, Planning Wing, Land and Rehabilitation Directorate and Revenue.
In order to cater any unpleasant situation Counter Terrorism Force and Anti-Riot Unit of the ICT Police with the backup of Rangers were also deployed during the operation.
Furthermore, heavy machinery of MPO Directorate and other formations of CDA were also utilized during the operation in addition to two excavators provided by the NHA.
It is pertinent to mention here that operation was conducted after the demarcation carried out by the Revenue staff of CDA, ICT and NHA.
