Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday adjourned a plea moved by Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz against his removal from the post of chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), for indefinite period of time

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2018 ) :Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday adjourned a plea moved by Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz against his removal from the post of chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), for indefinite period of time.

A two-judge bench, comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, adjourned the hearing on the request of Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Abdul Khalid Thind. Meanwhile, DAG apprised the court that three new petitions regarding appointment of CDA Chairman had been filed.

To this the bench directed office to club all identical petitions and fix the matter for hearing.

On December 29, the IHC single bench comprising Justice Athar Minallah, nullified two notifications dated September 6, 2016 through which Sheikh was first appointed as ex-officio member of the CDA board and then as part time chairman of the CDA.

The IHC single bench said in its verdict that the notifications were issued in violation of provisions of the CDA Ordinance and were, therefore, declared as illegal, without lawful authority and jurisdiction. Subsequently, the Mayor filed Intra Court Appeal (ICA) in the IHC challenging single judge bench decision.
