Chief Minister Vows To Make KP Example Of 'New Pakistan'

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan Friday recalled achievements and performance of previous provincial government said that people voted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf into power for the second time owing to its accomplishments and welfare oriented policies.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with 100 days performance of provincial government at Nishtar Hall, CM said that people of the province were confronted with numerous problems when PTI came into power adding that previous rulers prioritized their own interests rather resolving the issues of people.
Mehmood Khan said that formations of governments by PTI in center, Punjab and KP reflects the confidence of people on the vision of party's leadership.
He said that people who were dejected due to the ill-planned policies of previous governments voted PTI and gave us a chance to serve them.
KP CM said that we have selected our priorities to bring improvements in the system and improved efficiency of public departments at grassroots level. He said that we have made ourselves accountable before people and promoted transparency and merit in working of departments besides making them apolitical.
He said that provincial government discouraged corruption and nepotism through Right to Information law and made departments autonomous by introducing check and balance system.
He said that Independent Monitoring Units have been formed to analysis the performance of departments while steps were being taken to strengthen the economic position of the province.
Mehmood Khan said that provincial government adopted policy of austerity in financial affairs.
Expenditures of CM House, CM Secretariat and Pakhtunkhwa Islamabad House have been reduced from Rs5 million to six lac monthly, he added.
He said that PTI government devised a comprehensive strategy to rehabilitate damaged infrastructures and introduced new schemes including mega projects. He said that under 100 days plan, government has approved 58 projects besides deciding a roadmap to achieve economic development in KP by creating employment opportunities with an especial focus on under developed areas.
The Chief Minister said that a joint venture for Rashakai Special Economic Zone under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been approved and work on concession agreement has been underway.
He said that progress has also been made on Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding Circular Railway.
He said that work is in progress over merger of tribal areas and delimitations for elections in merged districts would be completed by January 30, 2019. Dates for elections in new districts would be announced after consultation with Election Commission, he added.
Mehmood Khan said that a plan has been prepared for the provision of clean drinking water to Peshawar while work for supply of water to other parts of the province is also underway. He said that 92 percent work on under construction Bus Rapid Transit project has been completed by the tireless efforts of the government.
Government has embarked on an ambitious plan to ensure justice, supremacy of merit, rule oflaw, accountability of departments and provision of basic amenities including education and health to people, he added maintaining that time is not far when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be made a true example of new Pakistan.
