'Children Hospital Providing Free Of Cost Cardiac Surgery To Children'

LAHORE, Jan 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : Medical Director Children Hospital Lahore Prof. Ahsen Waheed Rathore has said that Children hospital is conducting Cardic surgery of children of all age groups.
Patients are coming from all provinces. He said that 800 major and 1000 minor surgeries were conducted annually free of cost. He said that annually, Rs 280 million were being spent just on medicines and disposables.
On the special initiative of the Chief Minister Punjab, 90-beded cardiology and Cardic surgery wards and 3 new Cardic surgery operation theatres with 20 beded ICU facility had been completed which would start functioning by next month, he added.
As many as 600-bed Indoor and 16 operations block have also been completed with a total cost of Rs 3750 million, he informed.
Prof. Rathore said that Special funds of Rs 190 million had been provided by Chief Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif for the up-gradation of cardiology and Cardic surgery facilities this year.
During last few years, Children Hospital Multan, Institute of Cardiology Faisalabad and Rawalpindi has started paediatric cardiology and small surgeries (intervention cardiology), he said. All specialists working in these institutes are trained at Children's Hospital Lahore, he added.
The PIC has also started Cardic surgery of children with the assistance of Children's Hospital Cardic Surgeon team. Annually, about 40 thousand children born in Pakistan with cardiac complications, he added.
