Chiniot Dam Important To Meet Water Shortage: MD

Managing Director (MD) Fauji Foundation,Lt General (Retd) Syed Tariq Nadeem Ghillani has said that Chiniot dam was important in the prevailing scenario of water shortage.

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Nov, 2018 ) -:Managing Director (MD) Fauji Foundation,Lt General (Retd) Syed Tariq Nadeem Ghillani has said that Chiniot dam was important in the prevailing scenario of water shortage.

He announced to take up the matter with Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Lt General Muzzamil Hussain.He was addressing a function held here in Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI).

Veteran business leader Ch Ghulam Sarwar presented a comprehensive report on Chiniot dam and stated that WAPDA approved this project in 1986.

According to the feasibility study, it could store water for irrigation purposes in addition to generating 80 megawatts electricity.

Major General (Retd) Javaid Iqbal Nasir, Major General (Retd) Kaleem Sabar Taseer and (Retd) Vice Chief of Air Staff Syed Ather Hussain Bukhari were also present.
