CJP Khosa Releases Another Man On Life Sentence

Approving accused Ahmad Ali’s plea to suspend his life sentence, the Supreme Court released him after 9.5 years.

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd January, 2018) Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa released another accused on life sentence.

A three-member Supreme Court bench headed by CJP Khosa held the hearing of Rukhsana Bibi’s murder case on Wednesday.

The husband of the slain had request the court to release him.

Approving accused Ahmad Ali’s plea to suspend his life sentence, the Supreme Court released him after 9.5 years.

The court remarked the witnesses in the case reside miles away from the scene of the murder.

The judge said that the trial court did not receive solid evidence on the murder while Rukhsana’s children were also not included in the investigation.

Her murder case was registered in the jurisdiction of some other police station.

Ahmad Ali was accused of murdering her wife in 2009. A trial court had awarded him death penalty in the murder case.

However, the high court had converted his death penalty to life sentence. The accused had then moved the Supreme Court against her sentence.

CJP Khosa had on Tuesday released three accused who were awarded life sentence.

A three-member Supreme Court bench headed by CJP Khosa held the hearing on abduction case on Tuesday.

During the hearing, the CJP remarked, “The witnesses should not demand justice if they are afraid to testify.”

He quoted a saying of Allah, “Be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives.”

The CJP said the abducted were not recovered by police while he was not included in the investigation even after six months of his release.

Giving the accused a benefit of doubt, the CJP suspended their life sentence and ordered their release.
