Cleaning Of Facade Of Karachi's Historic Denso Hall Enters Second Phase

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2019 ) :Heritage Foundation of Pakistan, revived Karavan Karachi after nearly two decades by taking up cleaning of historic Denso Hall (constructed in1886 A.D); located on Marriott Road.
This initiative was taken by CEO of Heritage Foundation Pakistan, Yasmeen Lari keeping in mind the injunction of Supreme Court to bring back the glory of Karachi. The objective is to take up the cleaning of all the historic buildings on the street, one at a time, and to eventually pedestrianize it, said a press release on Monday.
The cleaning process took place in the evening in a festive atmosphere, with the street decorated with colourful KaravanKarachi banners, school band performing on the street, and activities taking place on and off the stage.
Arif Bahalim, director theatre and stage KaravanKarachi, the host of the day, warmly welcomed all the participants.
The programme kick-started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the national anthem.
Shanaz Ramzi, director of Heritage Foundation and charter president of Rotary Club of Karachi New Central, that is partnering with Heritage Foundation in the endeavor, addressed the large gathering present and reminisced about the time nearly two decades ago when KaravanKarachi was initiated and street festivals were held outside heritage sites on every Sunday.
Yasmeen Lari then spoke about the need to protect our historical buildings and pedestrianise Marriott Road, and thanked all those who came forward to offer their assistance to make this dream of hers come true.
Samina Ahmed and Komal Rizvi spoke about their dreams for Karachi. Rizvi sang her new song on the request of the audience.
