CM Advisor briefed on performance of Ehtisab Commission

PESHAWAR, Jan 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : Advisor to KP CM on Information and Higher education Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani visited the office of Ehtisab Commission in Hayatabad where he was briefed on the performance and initiatives of the Ehtisab Commission.

He was invited by KP Ehtisab Commission. During the visit he was briefed by Director General Ehtisab Commission, Brigadier Sajjad Khan regarding good governance initiatives of the Commission. He was informed that Rs 581.10 million have been saved through timely intervention in different departments and projects of the province.

The interventions worth mentioning that Rs 300 million were saved from Mardan Medical Plaza, Rs 42.6 million from Darmalak Dam in Kohat, Rs 100 million from Peshawar Text Book board, Rs 66.3 million in department of Mines and Minerals and Rs 42.

7 million in Malakand C&W department.

Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani on the occasion said that present government intends to root out corruption and corrupt practices from the province to ensure better services delivery. The Director Investigations Sardar Ali Khan informed that in a short span of 16 months, the Ehtisab Commission has registered 24 financial corruption references in the court that are worth Rs 3.19 billion.

While briefing Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani on the case against MPA Ziaullah Afridi, the officials clarified that he has been released on bail and there are 4 cases against him in which he is still under trial.

Similarly, former Minister for Excise and Taxation Liaquat Shabab and former Vice Chancellor of Islamia College University are also under trial in the courts for embezzlements of public funds.
