CM visits model graveyard in Lahore

LAHORE, June 20: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday paid a visit to the newly established model graveyard, Shehar-e-Khamoshan, in Kahna Nau area of Lahore. He inspected different facilities being provided in the graveyard.

He also inspected rooms for ablution and cold storage facilities for the dead bodies, the waiting area and the graveyard. The CM appreciated the facilities being provided in the Shehar-e-Khamoshan.

The graveyard has been set up on an area of around 90 kanals in Kahna at a cost of over Rs 15 crore. He said that new graveyards were a need of the hour as population of the metropolis has increased manifold.

Keeping in view the requirements of the people, the Punjab government set up Pakistan's most modern graveyard and a Shehar-e-Khamoshan Authority had also been constituted for the project.

He said that the establishment of Shehar-e-Khamoshan in Multan, Faisalabad and Sargodha was in progress, and modern graveyards would also be established in other cities of the province.

He said that the latest transport system had also been provided to transport relatives of the dead person to the graveyard. Acting DG of the project Salman Sufi gave a presentation to the chief minister about the project. Renowned religious scholar and head of Jamia Naeemia Maulana Raghib Naeemi offered special prayers.
