Construction Of New Islamabad Airport Road To Be Completed Next

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Nov, 2016 ) : Construction work of New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) link road is expected to be completed by end of December this year. Talking to APP, spokesman of the NHA, Kashif Zaman Tuesday said as per schedule the project was to be completed by March next year but it would be completed ahead of schedule.
Briefing about the salient points of New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA),he said that total length of link roads is 26.75 km while its construction cost is Rs 10.84 bn and its land cost was Rs.
5.984 bn.
He said the link road from M1/M2 interchange to airport is 5.5 km while cargo link road and periphery road length is around 12 km. The project is stated to be the shortest and the most cost effective approach linked to the parking of new state-of-the-art airport.
It may be mentioned that the link road project was approved by the Prime Minister in January 2015. Work on new Airport is also on fast track which is scheduled to be operational by July 2017 to replace the overburdened Benazir International Airport.
