Contaminated Water Of Industries Big Threat To Aqua Life: Local Fishermen

MUZAFARGARH, Jan 6 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Jan, 2019 ) :The contaminated sewage water and chemical waste of industries felling down into the River Chenab was causing death and posing existential threat to aquatic life of the river whereas thousands of fish had died within few months.

The local fishermen expressed here on Sunday that the water level was already low in the river for the last two years, adding there was no risk for fish at that time whereas after the contamination of the water due to the mixing of highly injurious chemical and human waste a large number of fish had perished since then.

The river's fish were the main source of income for the fishermen but the water pollution in the river had compromised the livelihood of the fishermen, they added.

The fishermen, however had demanded that the government to take action against the violators and take serious steps to save the dying aqua life.
