The Accountability Court Judge Syed Najamul Hassan passed the orders after National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) officials pleaded with the court for extension in judicial remand.
The court was apprised by NAB officials that some of the accused had moved plea bargain applications and it was the reason that reference had not been filed so far.
Besides, Prof Muhammad Akram, other suspects including Sargodha University's former registrar retired Brig Rao Jamil, Lahore sub-campus' former admin director Akram, Mandi Bahauddin sub-campus CEO Waris and his partner Naeem were also produced before the court.
It is pertinent to mention that Lahore sub-campus' former CEO Mian Javed Ahmad was also arrested in connection with the scam but he died in jail due to heart attack.
The bureau arrested the accused for establishing illegal sub-campuses under public private partnership policy and jeopardising future of thousands of students. The illegal sub-campuses enrolled thousands of students and received hefty fees from them.
The arrest was made by the NAB to complete its inquiry as per directions given by the Supreme Court in a suo motu case on an application of students of private campuses of the university at the Supreme Court's Lahore Registry.
