Culture of zero tolerance against corruption should be promoted: Commissioner

On the directions of Punjab government, Anti Corrupting Establishment Faisalabad Region organized a seminar to raise awareness against the menace of corruption in connection with World Anti Corruption Day here at Iqbal Hall of Municipal Corporation

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Dec, 2017 ) :On the directions of Punjab government, Anti Corrupting Establishment Faisalabad Region organized a seminar to raise awareness against the menace of corruption in connection with World Anti Corruption Day here at Iqbal Hall of Municipal Corporation.

Divisional Commissioner Momin Agha was chief guest while RPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana presided over the seminar. Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani, CPO Athar Ismail, Mayor Municipal Corporation Muhammad Razzaq Malik, Chairman District Council Ch.

Zahid Nazir and Director Anti Corruption Dr. Irshad Ahmad were also present on the occasion. Director Colleges Imdad Ullah Ch, Ex Director Colleges Rana Munawar, Assistant Director Anti Corruption Zahid Masood Nizami, officers & officials of different departments, student of institutions and representatives of civil society also participated.

Addressing the seminar, the Divisional Commissioner said that the culture of zero tolerance against corruption should be promoted in society to discourage all kinds of corruption and misappropriation in the government departments.

He said that effective measures and line of action should be adopted for ensuring corruption free official affairs in order to build strong confidence for the citizens. He said, "Corruption is a curse of our society and the Punjab government has taken a number of measures to stop the corruption under scientific system of information technology in the government departments, however, the cooperation of civil society is imperative for eradicating this menace from the roots." He said that introducing the Case Management System in Anti Corruption Establishment offices was helpful to discourage the black mailers and habitual applicants.

He appreciated the overall performance of Regional Anti Corruption Establishment. He lauded the efforts of Regional Anti Corruption Establishment for arranging the purposeful seminar for the awareness and training of new generation and government officials regarding making corruption free society.

The RPO highlighted reasons of the menace of corruption and said that it could be eliminated by maintaining good governance in government offices and people could be provided justice and relief to protect their rights.

He said that every head of the institutions should be role model for their subordinates for making transparency in the official affairs. Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani said that taking bribe was not only corruption but dishonesty in the government duty which should also be checked by strict monitoring.

He informed that information technology system had been introduced in government departments and the attendance of the staff was being maintained by biometric system. He said that a complaint cell had also been working at DC Office for the relief of the public and receiving the complaints of any corruption.

He said that objective of holding awareness seminar was to renew the pledge against corruption and sensitize the society for waging a war against the corruption. He said that E Khidmat Markaz had been working to facilitate people and 16 different departmental services were being provided there in a quick time while introducing E Stamping paper had also decreased corruption in this field.

The CPO said that the society should show its hate against the corruption and corrupt elements should be taken to the task immediately. The Mayor Municipal Corporation said that the attitude of the society should be changed to promote the corruption free culture.

Chairman District Council said that everyone should play their role in elimination of corruption from society. He urged the youth to contribute towards society's development by playing their role in fight against corruption.

Director Anti Corruption informed that 2455 complaints had been solved in last one year and 681 inquiries were registered while 57 successful raids had been conducted against corrupt people including public and private officers and staff members.

Additional Commissioner Coordination, Director Colleges, Ex Director Colleges and others also spoke on the occasion and boys and girls students of different colleges delivered speeches on the subject of Anti Corruption. APP/aar/ia/zqr
