The citizens in Hyderabad commemorated the Defence day here on Thursday with patriotic fervour like other parts of the country.

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Sep, 2018 ) :The citizens in Hyderabad commemorated the Defence day here on Thursday with patriotic fervour like other parts of the country.

The political, religious and other groups of citizens took out rallies while the important buildings and intersections were decorated with the banners and penaflex highlighting successful defence of the country against Indian aggression in 1965.

The educational institutions in Hyderabad and Jamshoro districts organized seminars and conferences in which the speakers shed light on the 1965 war and the heroic role of the country's soldiers.

In Sindh University, Jamshoro, the faculty, staff and students led by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat carried a 200 feet long Pakistani flag in a walk from Allama II Kazi campus to the administrative block.

The SSP Jamshoro Bashir Ahmed Brohi, ASP Suhai Aziz Talpur and officials from the district administration also participated in the walk.

The students carried photographs of the martyred soldiers and placards which read the slogans expressing love and devotion for the country.

Later, a debate event titled 'I love Pakistan' was held at the Arts Faculty of SU in which the teachers and students expressed their views.

"Today is the day when we commemorate the soldiers who laid down their lives for defence of the country and because of whom we live in an independent country with freedom," said the VC Burfat.

"Our protection, our peace, our freedom, our happiness and our trust is due to those soldiers who sacrifice their lives for this country," he added.

The VC praised Pakistan Army as the best army in the world which had been giving sacrifices for defence of the country and in the war against terrorism.

Prof Burfat said Sindh played a pivotal part in the creation of Pakistan and that its people were equally participating in defence of the country.

"The role of Hurr Mujahid force is a bright chapter in the history," he underlined.

Pakistan Youth Council's Ateeq Raja, Director Bureau of Stags Sumera Umrani and other faculty members also spoke on the occasion.

In another commemorative event at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, VC Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili paid tribute to the soldiers of Pakistan who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country.

Prof VC Dr Taha Hussain, Registrar Prof Dr Abdul Waheed Umrani, Deans of different faculties and other officials also spoke.

At Government College Kali Mori, Hyderabad, Sindh Rangers' Col Muhammad Ashraf observed that Pakistan had been made strong by islam, Pakistan army and the people.

"The enemies keep attempting to create rifts in the ideological and geographical boundaries of the country but their attempts are defeated each time," he said.

"In our respective walks of life, the people of Pakistan should have the courage of those soldiers who fought and martyred in the 1965 war," he advised.

Col Ashraf said like Madina Munawara, the state of Pakistan was also formed on the basis of Islam.

He referred to propaganda of the country's enemies who sometimes conspired for greater Sindh, greater Balochistan, greater Punjab and greater KPK or those who predicted that the country would break up by 2010.

"Allah (SWT) has created Pakistan for a purpose. And He will make us play a big role," he said.

The College's Principal Prof Dr Nasiruddin Shaikh said that the people of Pakistan take pride over their heroes and their history.

Prof G M Soomro, Prof Khalid Latif and others also expressed their view on the occasion.

The business community of Hyderabad also marked the day by arranging special events.

The community's representatives visited the families of martyred soldiers in Hyderabad, expressed solidarity and handed over bouquets of flowers.

The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) organizing 3-day Martyrs of Pakistan Table Tennis Tournament in which the school and college students participated.

The HCCI's President Muhammad Shahid led a walk which culminated at SRTC Complex where a flag hoisting ceremony took place.

The traders in different parts of Hyderabad decorated the streets and intersections with banners, penaflex and the national flags.
