Development Work At Quetta Airport To Be Completed Soon; Senate Told

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Nov, 2018 ) :Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan on Wednesday said that the development work on Quetta Airport will be completed as early as possible to facilitate the passengers.
Replying to a calling attention notice in the Senate, the minister said that construction work is being completed for having better services for passengers of national and international flights.
He said that the government has planned to start Peshawar-Quetta direct flights to facilitate the passengers as presently there are only indirect flights between Peshawar to Quetta.
He said that Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party was part of past government, who did nothing for betterment of people of Balochistan.
The minister said that the past government was responsible in delaying the Quetta airport project.
He said that an inquiry is being conducted and its report will be presented on November 16 regarding matters related with the delay in Quetta airport project.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan has clear stance that all due rights will be given to Balochistan province and there will be no more discrimination with the people of this province.
He said that there are questions on misuse of funds by past government in the name of development in Balochistan. However he added now things will improve there.
Earlier, Senator Muhammad Usman Kakar and other senators drawing attention towards the slow pace of work on Quetta airport which was to be completed in December, 2017, said that early steps should be taken for completion of development work.
He said that there is lack of basic facilities for passengers at Quetta airport and urged the authorities concerned to ensure availability of all basic facilities for passengers. He said that new flights should be started from Quetta airport for other cities and countries.
Senator Mir Kabeer and Senator Azam Khan Musakhel said that an amount of Rs 1200 million is requiredfor completion of development work at Quetta airport and its standard should be made at par with the international level.
