Discussion Underway With IMF: Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Nov, 2018 ) :Federal Minister for Finance Asad Umar Wednesday said the discussion was underway with International Monitory Fund (IMF), regarding loan facility for Pakistan.

Talking to a private news channel, he expressed the hope that it would be the last programme of Pakistan with IMF.

He said it would be the 19th programme of IMF, adding that the situation of the programme would be unveiled in the next couple of days.

The government had a clear policy of exports and remittances, he stated.

The minister said that reduction in gas prices for industries would have positive impact on exports, adding that minimizing the custom duty on raw material would help to enhance production.

To a question about privatization of national institutions, he said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was not against the privatization.

About Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), the minister said that probably there was issues of over-staffing and governance.

There was need to evolve strategy for streamlining the PSM and other institutions, he said.

To a question, Asad Umer said that the government had increased the pension of EOBI employees.

To another question, he said keeping in view the current situation, Prime Minister Imran Khan would announce a package for poor persons in next few days. The government was making efforts to expand tax net through using advance technology.
