DLIMS Issues 4.969 Mln Driving Licenses In 16 Months

LAHORE, Jan 4 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Jan, 2017 ) : A total number of 4,969,913 licenses have been issued under Driving License Issuance Management System (DLIMS), a joint project of Punjab Traffic Police Department (PTPD) and Punjab Information Technology board (PITB), in 36 district of Punjab since launch of the project on September 1, 2015 till end of 2016.

Giving break-up of different categories of vehicles' licenses, the spokesman said here Wednesday that DLIMS issued 2,046,548 licenses for Motorcycles; 1,741,846 Cars; 804,057 Light Transport Vehicles; 196,937 Heavy Transport Vehicles; 17,805 Rickshaw; 83,649 Tractor (Agriculture); 21,392 Tractor (Commercial); 1,517 Cabs; 469 Road Rollers; and 55,693 Handicapped & Public Service Vehicles (PSV).

He mentioned that applicants could now verify their license in any of the 36 districts of Punjab by entering their computerized national identity card (CNIC) number at http://dlims.

punjab.gov.pk/verify/, and also track status of their license applied in any of the 36 districts of Punjab by entering their CNIC number at http://dlims.punjab.gov.pk/track/.

The approved cost of the project was Rs 163 million however total utilization remained at Rs 144 million resulting in savings of Rs 19 million, he said and added that licensing operation had now been centralized including database and printing facility for 35 districts of Punjab and a separate facility for Lahore.

The capacity building through training sessions for police officials was a regular activity being organized by PITB for accurate and timely data entry in the system, he maintained. The spokesman said that ownership of DLIMS had completely been transferred to Police Department, while PITB's role would be managing operations and maintenance i.e.

database and technical assistance of the project.
