Drastic steps being taken for elimination of spurious drugs: DC

FAISALABAD, Jan 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : Under the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the district administration is taking drastic steps for the elimination of sale and manufacturing of spurious drugs.

The role of Drug Testing Laboratory is very important for bringing the drug mafia into logical end. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani during the visit of Drug Testing Laboratory Ghulam Muhammad Abad.

Chief Executive Officer District Health Authority (DHA) Dr. Nawazish Goraya, Acting Director DTL Muzammal Waheed, X-en Building Husnain Shah and other officers were also present on the occasion.

The Deputy Commissioner said the Punjab government was very much committed for the eradication of spurious drug menace in the society and establishment of state of the art Drug Testing Laboratory (DTL) was a chain of these measures.

He said DTL Faisalabad was providing services to 14 districts of Faisalabad, Sargodha and Gujranwala divisions and its capacity would be further enhanced in future inline with the most advanced technology.

The Deputy Commissioner while inspecting various sections of the DTL, reviewed the process of receiving samples of the medicines, its record and analyzing methods, and directed the staff for keeping all departmental process in secret, adding that transparent departmental performance should be ensured.

He also checked the development work being carried out for the necessary addition and alteration as per the requirements and directed the Building Department Officers to gear up the construction work for its early completion.

He also directed for keeping quality cleanliness and pleasant environment in DTL besides carrying out beautiful landscaping on the outside of DTL building. Acting Director DTL Muzammal Waheed informed the DC about the annual performance of the DTL and said total 11022 samples of different medicines had been received during the year 2016 in DTL for analysis.

Out of them, reports of 10175 samples had been issued so far, he added.
