LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Sep, 2018 ) :A joint project of Punjab Information Technology board (PITB) and Youth Affairs, sports, Archeology & Tourism (YASAT), 'e-Rozgaar Programme' has so far trained more than 3,500 candidates in the digital skills of the future.
PITB Chairman and founding Vice Chancellor of Information Technology University (ITU) Dr. Umar Saif said here Wednesday that for current cycle 2,208 applicants have been enrolled while for all phases so far 65,390 applications were received. The shortlisted candidates get three and a half month of free training in their selected domain i.e. Technical, Content Marketing & Advertising and Creative Design from expert trainers at their selected centers.
Currently, 23 centers were operational across the province of the Punjab in various universities and educational institutions with duly equipped labs, among these centers three centers are dedicated for females, which were started in mid-2017 while more than 3,500 candidates have been trained who have so far earned more than Rs 50 million, he mentioned.
He claimed that e-Rozgaar had a vision to provide training and career development opportunities to young professionals of the Punjab province, in order to minimize unemployment by creating opportunities and providing them with the necessary means to earn an honorable living.
Pakistan being the World's sixth largest country, having the best facilities and remarkable resources, better than many institutions around the globe, possesses excellent youth potential to move forward and to grab the economic opportunities through freelancing under the e-Rozgaar program.
He was of the view that the programme empowered the youth to create jobs for themselves in technical, non-technical and creative areas rather than to seek for it. In freelancing, he added, Pakistan stood third among the World community by earning around US $ One million, which would increase to the tune of US $ 360 million through the earning of US $100 per day per person by the 10,000 trainees selected for three-month program for freelance self-employment. Facebook has developed a specialized course track as per the needs of e-Rozgaar.
