Early holding of KP assembly polls, LG system, 3pc share in NFC essential for success of merger plan: Speakers

Speakers at a seminar here on Wednesday stated that holding of provincial assembly elections, introducing of local government system, awarding three percent share in the NFC award and extension of complete judicial system were essential for the merged tribal districts

BAJAUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2019 ) :Speakers at a seminar here on Wednesday stated that holding of provincial assembly elections, introducing of local government system, awarding three percent share in the NFC award and extension of complete judicial system were essential for the merged tribal districts.

The round forum titled "Integration of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) in to Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, challenges and opportunities" was organized by Tribal Youth Organization here the other day.

People from all walks of life including political and social activists, youths, students and representatives of trade union association attended the seminar in large numbers.

Highlighting the purpose of the conference, the Tribal Youth Organization president Farahd Ali said that the main objective of the seminar was to discuss the challenges being faced by the tribal districts after the merger with KPK and to convert the challenges in to opportunities as well.

PML-N former lawmaker and Fata-KPK merger senior campaigner Shahabuddin Khan, Pakistan People's party provincial vice president and ex MNA Sayed Akhunzada Chattan, All Bajaur Political Parties Alliance president Maulna Waheed Gul, ANP leader Sheikh Jan Zada, senior journalist Haji Habibullah Khan Asi, PTI president Dr Khalilur Rahman, JUI-F leader Maulana Sultan Mohammad, Fata Youth Jriga leader Nisar Khan Baz, Youth of Bajaur chairman Rehan Zeb Khan, prominent journalist and researcher Dr Asharf Ali, Islamabad based senior journalist Haroon Rasheed, Bajaur Chamber of commerce and Industries founder president Lali Shah and scholar Dr Alam Khan and ANP provincial joint secretary Shah Naseer Khan were the main speakers who shared their views on the issues.

The speakers said that merger of Fata with KPK were the long standing demands of almost all people of the tribal districts to improve their socio-economic conditions.

The speakers said the people of tribal districts would not get benefit from the merger unless the government hold provincial assembly elections, local government system, 3 percent share in NFC award and extension of judicial system in the tribal districts.

They asked the government to respect the wishes of residents and hold elections of provincial assembly, local bodies and allocate three percent share in the NFC award to the tribal districts with immediate effect.
