EBM Of National Accountability Board Ordered For Filing References, Conduct Inquiries Against Various Accused

The Executive Board Meeting of National Accountability Board (NAB) Tuesday ordered for filing of references, conducting of inquiries, investigations and complaint verifications against various accused persons in corruption, abuse of authority and having assets beyond the known sources of income.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Mar, 2018 ) :The Executive Board Meeting of National Accountability Board (NAB) Tuesday ordered for filing of references, conducting of inquiries, investigations and complaint verifications against various accused persons in corruption, abuse of authority and having assets beyond the known sources of income.
The EBM met here with Justice (R) Javed Iqbal in the chair and accorded approval to file first corruption reference against former Deputy Director General, Building Control Section, Capital Development Authority, (CDA) Ghulam Murtaza Malik , former Director Building Control, CDA, Khalil Ahmed, former Deputy Director Building Control, CDA, Muhammad Ammar Idrees, former Assistant Director Building Control, CDA, Khadim Hussein and owner of Safa Gold Mall F-7, Islamabad, Rana Abdul Qayyum for causing losses to national kitty owing to illegally approving additional stories at Safa Gold Mall by abusing their authorities, said a press release issued by NAB.
The second reference is being filed against former Director General Gilyat Development Authority, Tariq Hayat Khan and others for allotting the precious land of the authority, which caused Rs 90 million losses to national exchequer.
The EBM approved third corruption reference against former Managing Director, Water and Sanitation Agency, Hamid Latif Rana and others for having assets beyond known sources of income. They had inflicted Rs 337 million losses to national exchequer.
The EBM has also approved investigations against Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Afzal Janjua, Brig (Retd) Iftikhar Mehdi, former Secretary Finance, Balochistan, Mehfooz Ali Khan, Directors of Allahhoo Holdings, Directors of United Insurance Company of Pakistan, officers/officials of Balochistan Government and others for causing Rs 243.640 million losses to national kitty owning to misuse of authority and devouring of government funds.
The EBM approved inquiry against the management of National Highway Authority (NHA) and others for causing Rs 14 billion losses to the national exchequer in illegally awarding Karachi-Lahore Motorway-III, Abdul Hakeem, (230km) contract to Messers China Railway, 20 Bureau Group Corporation.
The EBM approved inquiry against former MNA Mudassar Qayyum Nehra, former MNA Azhar Qayyum Nehra and others for allegedly having assets beyond known sources of income. The EBM has also approved Hafeez-ur-Rehman and Syed Qasim Shah for allegedly involved in corruption.
The EBM inquiry against the officers/officials of Sarhad Development Authority for causing heavy loss to national kitty by illegally allowing an educational institute to establish their institute at Industrial Estate/Zone Hayatabad.
The NAB board also approved conducting inquiry against ,Deputy Manager, SS and SEPCO, Sukkur Nazir Ahmed Soomro for having assets beyond their known sources of income. The EBM approved closing of inquiries against the officers and officials of Pakistan Petroleum, Limited, AKD Real Estate and Directors and owners of M/s Lucky Cement Factory.
And the board also approved closing inquiry against the directors and owners of Younas Brothers. Another inquiry would be closed against the officers/officials and others of Land Utilization Department, Board of Revenue, Sindh and officers/officials of Haripur University.
The Chairman NAB Justice (R) Javed Iqbal said corruption was the mother of ills, which must be exterminated. The officers consider elimination of corruption as their national responsibility. They are also utilizing their energies for ensuring corruption free Pakistan, he added.
The Chairman directed NAB officers to conclude verifications, inquiries and investigations within prescribed time frame that too in light of merit, law and concrete evidence. He said NAB was vehemently adhering to the policy of 'Accountability for All'.
The affiliation of NAB is with the country and its people. He asked NAB officers to perform their duties with utmost honesty, in accordance with merit and in accordance with law.
