ECP Appoints 592 Monitoring Teams To Monitor Elections

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jun, 2018 ) :The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has appointed as many as 492 monitoring teams throughout the country to monitor election campaign for general election 2018 schedule to be held on July 25. According to an official notification, 99, 297, 130, 51, 12 and 3 teams have been constituted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, FATA and Federal capital respectively to monitor election campaigns of the candidates both for the national and provincial assemblies.
The notification further said, "The monitoring teams will monitor election campaign of candidates and political parties regarding any violation by a candidate or a political party of any provision of the 2017-Act, Rules or the Code of Conduct issue by the Commission and also nominates the officer for the purpose of deciding the complaints, regarding any violation by a candidate or political party of any provision of the Act and Rules.
" The last date for appellate tribunals of the ECP for deciding appeals against decisions of returning officers is June 26.
According to the schedule, the list of the valid candidates will be published on June 27, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be June 28.
The ECP will allocate election symbols to candidates on June 29 and the final list of the contesting candidates will be displayed on the same day.
The ECP, also consulted the representatives of political parties having representation in parliament over the code of conduct for political parties and candidates.
