
ECP To Start Electoral Rolls Revision Campaign From Wednesday

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th August, 2016) : The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will start campaign to include the Names of newly issued Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) holders in electoral rolls from Wednesday (August 10) across the country. During the Annual Revision of Electoral Rolls campaign, voters who have become disqualified (deaths/cancelled CNICs) will also be excluded from the rolls after their door-to-door verification process, said Additional Director General Public Relations of the Commission while talking to APP on Tuesday. According to the Additional Director General, a 20-day door-to-door verification shall be carried out from August 10 to August 29, 2016 which shall be followed by 21 days of display process starting from September, 20 2016.
For the said purpose verifying officials will visit the permanent addresses of the newly issued CNIC holders for their verification, she added. Simultaneously, door-to-door verification of all the deceased voters shall also be carried out for deletion of their names from the lists. After door-to-door verification the said lists shall be displayed at designated display centers, offices of District Election Commissioners, Registration Officers and Assistant Registration Officers for public inspection, she added.
List of display centers with contact details shall be shared with media and published of ECP's official website soon. Voters shall be requested to check their vote status by sending their CNIC number to 8300 SMS through their mobile phones.
If desired, applications for enrolment/transfer, correction and deletion of votes could be submitted on prescribed forms at designated display centers, offices of District Election Commissioners, Registration Officers and Assistant Registration Officers. ECP has issued necessary instructions to all the Provincial Election Commissioners, Regional Election Commissioners, District Election Commissioners, NADRA and all concerned to complete the pre-requisites of the revision process at the earliest. The voter count is expected to be increased from 93 million to 97-98 million after the said revision process, he added.
