ECP To Use Mobile Phones For Transmission Of NA-4 Bye-poll Results

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to use mobile phones for transmission of results of NA-4 Peshawar bye-election from polling stations to the Returning Officer

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Oct, 2017 ) :Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to use mobile phones for transmission of results of NA-4 Peshawar bye-election from polling stations to the Returning Officer.

According to an official of ECP, under this pilot project, Presiding Officer will send the result of respective polling station to the Returning Officer through use of this new technology, which is more efficient and fast.

He said that the result could be sent directly to the computer system of the Returning Officer by taking picture of the result and further, the ECP could receive the results of polling stations in more fastest way through this system.

Earlier, the ECP had introduced this project in Karachi PS-114 bye-election held on July 2017, which remained successful. He said that ECP had its own mobile phones which would be used in Peshawar bye-election and that the commission had developed the software by itself to receive results from 269 polling station of Peshawar bye-election.

He said that the commission would arrange a training session for Presiding Officers next week in Peshawar for proper use of this system. He said that with use of this system, the ECP would be able to check the standard of the system. He added the ECP's high ranking officials might check the election results from their own mobile phones.
